ANWETECH supplied a UL Listed FK-5-1-12 clean agent fire suppression system for the control room of GREEN FUTURE BIOTECH FACTORY in Kuantan, Malaysia. The project used one set of FK-5-1-12 total flooding fire extinguishing system with two 120L cylinders to provide fire protection for the factory control room.
Control rooms are critical areas in industrial and biotechnology facilities. They often contain control panels, electrical cabinets, monitoring systems, PLC equipment, communication devices, and other sensitive electronic equipment. In these environments, fire protection must not only extinguish fire quickly, but also avoid water damage, residue contamination, and unnecessary business interruption.
For this project, ANWETECH selected the AT5112SPA FK-5-1-12 engineered clean agent fire suppression system because it is suitable for protecting occupied or normally accessible areas where electrically non-conductive, clean, and fast-acting fire suppression is required.

A control room is one of the most important technical areas in a biotech factory. It supports daily production monitoring, process control, equipment operation, alarm management, and plant safety supervision. If a fire occurs inside the control room, it may lead to equipment failure, production shutdown, data loss, or interruption of factory operation.
The main fire risks in this type of room may include:
| Risk Source | Possible Fire Concern |
|---|---|
| Control panels and electrical cabinets | Electrical short circuit, overheating, cable fault |
| PLC and monitoring equipment | Sensitive electronic equipment requiring clean protection |
| Power supply and UPS equipment | Heat generation and electrical fault risk |
| Cable trays and wiring | Cable insulation overheating or electrical fault |
| Enclosed room environment | Fire may develop quickly if not detected and suppressed early |
For this reason, a clean agent system is more suitable than water-based suppression in control room applications. The system can suppress fire without leaving water, powder, foam, or oily residue on sensitive electrical and control equipment.
FK-5-1-12 is a clean fire suppression agent designed for total flooding applications. It is suitable for critical rooms where equipment protection, personnel safety, and fast recovery are important.
For the GREEN FUTURE BIOTECH FACTORY control room, FK-5-1-12 was selected because it provides the following project advantages:
| Requirement | FK-5-1-12 Project Advantage |
|---|---|
| Protect sensitive electrical equipment | Clean agent leaves no particulate or oily residue |
| Reduce downtime after discharge | The protected room can be ventilated after system operation |
| Avoid water damage | Suitable for control panels, PLC cabinets, monitoring equipment, and electrical devices |
| Fast suppression | Designed for automatic total flooding fire extinguishing applications |
| Suitable for occupied areas | Applicable for normally occupied spaces when designed according to required safety limits |
| Professional engineered system | Designed according to protected volume, hazard type, nozzle arrangement, and pipe network calculation |
The project used a 2 × 120L FK-5-1-12 cylinder system for total flooding protection of the control room. The system is designed to discharge FK-5-1-12 agent into the protected enclosure through a pipe network and discharge nozzles, creating the required extinguishing concentration within the protected space.
As an engineered clean agent system, the final design should consider:
This engineered approach helps ensure that the FK-5-1-12 agent can be discharged effectively and distributed properly inside the control room.
The ANWETECH FK-5-1-12 clean agent system is composed of key mechanical and discharge components required for a complete engineered fire extinguishing system.
For this project, the system configuration can be described as:
| System Component | Function |
|---|---|
| FK-5-1-12 Agent Cylinders | Store the clean extinguishing agent for total flooding discharge |
| Container Valves | Control the release of agent from the cylinders |
| Cylinder Fixing Brackets | Secure the cylinders in the cylinder storage area |
| Discharge Hoses / Pipework | Deliver the agent from cylinders to the discharge network |
| Discharge Nozzles | Distribute FK-5-1-12 agent into the protected control room |
| Discharge Pressure Switch | Provides discharge confirmation signal after system operation |
| Manual / Electrical Actuation Device | Supports system activation according to project design |
| Warning Signs | Provide safety indication for protected areas |
The system can be connected with a compatible fire detection and extinguishing control system to provide automatic release, manual release, alarm notification, and discharge supervision according to the project design requirements.
During installation, the two 120L FK-5-1-12 cylinders should be positioned securely and connected to the discharge pipe network according to the approved system design. The discharge nozzles should be installed in the correct locations to ensure effective agent distribution inside the control room.
A professional commissioning process should include:
| Commissioning Item | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Cylinder Installation Check | Confirm cylinder quantity, capacity, fixing brackets, and valve condition |
| Pipe Network Inspection | Verify pipe routing, connection tightness, and installation quality |
| Nozzle Position Check | Confirm nozzle quantity, direction, and protected area coverage |
| Actuation Function Check | Verify electrical/manual release interface according to system design |
| Pressure Switch Verification | Confirm discharge signal supervision function |
| Alarm Interface Check | Confirm connection with the fire alarm or extinguishing control system |
| Room Integrity Review | Confirm that the protected room can retain extinguishing concentration effectively |
| Final System Handover | Provide project documentation and operation guidance |
This process helps ensure that the clean agent system can operate correctly when required and provide reliable fire suppression for the control room.
The GREEN FUTURE BIOTECH FACTORY project demonstrates how a UL Listed FK-5-1-12 clean agent system can be used to protect critical control room applications in industrial facilities.
The completed system provides the following value:
