Description

Product Overview

The ANWETECH AT-S236 is an AC-powered photoelectric smoke detector designed for smoke monitoring in industrial and electrical applications.

The detector uses an infrared photoelectric sensing principle to detect visible smoke particles generated by smoldering or flaming fires. Its optical structure and signal-processing design provide resistance to dust, insects and external light interference, helping improve detection stability in demanding environments.

The AT-S235 operates directly from an AC 110–240VAC power supply and provides both local alarm indication and external relay output.

When smoke reaches the alarm threshold, the detector activates its red LED indicator, built-in audible alarm and relay output. When the smoke concentration returns to normal, the detector automatically returns to normal monitoring status.

How the AT-S236 Works

Under normal operating conditions, the detector continuously monitors the surrounding air for smoke.

The red status indicator flashes approximately once every 5–6 seconds during normal operation.

The detector automatically monitors environmental smoke concentration and compensates sensitivity according to operating conditions.

When the detected smoke concentration approaches the alarm threshold, the detector increases its smoke trend analysis and the alarm LED begins flashing rapidly.

When the smoke concentration reaches or exceeds the alarm threshold:

  • Red LED remains illuminated
  • Built-in audible alarm activates
  • Relay alarm output activates

After the smoke concentration returns to normal, the detector automatically returns to normal monitoring status.

NO/NC Relay Output

One of the main advantages of the AT-S235 is its integrated relay alarm output.

The detector provides:

NO – Normally Open

NC – Normally Closed

COM – Common

This allows the detector alarm condition to provide an external switching signal for compatible monitoring or control equipment.

The source documentation identifies the base terminals as:

  • Terminal 2 – Normally Closed
  • Terminal 5 – Common
  • Terminal 3 – Normally Open

Relay Contact Rating

3A at 250VAC / 30VDC

Built-in 85dB Local Alarm

When smoke is detected, the AT-S235 activates a built-in audible alarm with a rated sound level of:

85dB

Together with the red LED alarm indicator, this provides both audible and visual local alarm indication.

Automatic Reset

The AT-S235 supports automatic alarm recovery.

After the smoke concentration falls back to a normal level, the detector automatically returns to normal operating condition without requiring manual reset.

This function is particularly useful for standalone equipment monitoring applications where continuous automatic operation is required.

Self-Test Function

The detector includes a built-in test button for routine functional inspection.

Pressing the test button causes:

  • Red LED alarm indication
  • Audible alarm activation
  • Relay signal output

The self-test function is intended to check the internal operating functions of the detector.

Industrial Application Areas

The AT-S235 is designed for indoor smoke monitoring applications including:

  • Electrical Cabinets
  • Transformer Substations
  • Electrical Substations
  • Wind Power Equipment
  • Industrial Enclosures
  • Equipment Cabinets
  • Warehouses

These applications are specifically identified in the original product documentation.

Recommended Applications

Electrical Cabinets

The compact Ø99 × 48 mm detector can be installed for smoke monitoring in electrical cabinets and similar equipment spaces.

Transformer Substations

Photoelectric smoke detection can provide local smoke alarm indication in transformer substation applications.

Wind Power Equipment

The detector's direct AC supply and relay alarm output make it suitable for smoke monitoring applications where an external alarm signal is required.

Industrial Enclosures

The AT-S235 can be used for smoke monitoring inside compatible enclosed industrial equipment spaces.

Warehouses

The photoelectric sensor provides detection of visible smoke generated by smoldering and flaming fires in suitable indoor environments.

Installation Requirements

For correct installation and reliable smoke detection:

  • Keep at least 0.5 m clearance around the detector.
  • Maintain at least 1.5 m horizontal distance from air-conditioning supply outlets.
  • Maintain at least 0.5 m horizontal distance from walls and beams.
  • Install the detector base securely.
  • Ensure all wiring connections are reliable.
  • Disconnect electrical power before wiring.
  • Complete proper insulation of wiring before applying power.
  • Do not remove the detector housing while energized.
  • Keep the dust cover installed until the project is officially placed into service.

Maintenance

ANWETECH recommends performing a simulated fire alarm test approximately:

Every 6 Months

The test should confirm that the detector is operating correctly.

Keep the detector clean and free from excessive dust or contamination that may interfere with smoke entry or normal sensing performance.
